New Guild Members should pay to join as well
I don't really mind that you have to pay 100g to invite members into your guild. (helps cut down on the spaming) But why should I have to pay for the member to join if most new members just leave right away without saying a word? I propose that new members have to pay 100g as well upon joining.

That might not actually be a bad idea. Sort of a "matching funds" thing. Guild leader pays 100 gp to "request" a person to join. As soon as the person clicks "accept guild invite", 100gp floats away from them as well. LOL...poetic justice. I like it.

no. It should be 1000g to leave. It should be no fee for joining.

Agreed. Kudos. A MUCH better solution. It would certainly stop a few people from coming in, raping the guild supplies and ditching to rinse and repeat.

WHat if the guild is...crap? Liek immature people and whatnot...1k isnt a good price for leaving then. And you gotta put into account newbs in presearing. They dont know about guilds. They get spammed, and they join without knowing, and have to pay (gasp) 1k to leave? What's 1k?

I guess that doing one's homework before one joins a guild would be a good idea. It is NEVER smart to just join in a half-baked manner anyhow. Play with them for awhile. See what they're all about. Join PvP matches with them as a guest. THEN join up if they measure up to expectations. If not? Meh.

The thing is, newbs. I had no idea what a guild was the first time. The dude was like, join and we'll help you. And i was the first member. Yuck. So how do you do research on liars?
edit: then i panicked and asked everyone how do you leave a guild? Gosh, presearing days.

All the info on guilds (what it is, joining, leaving, etc) can be found online at www.guildwars.com so even "Noobs" have a source for all their questions.
So back to the issue, the problem before was people joining and leaving without ever saying a word. The problem still exists it's just now the guild leaders and/or officers have to pay to let them in and bite the bullet if they suddenly leave for whatever reason!
Going with the idea that members leaving should have to pay to leave... there could be a simple notice that pops up stating that you have to pay x-amount to if you ever wish to leave before you "officially" swear yourself into the guild.
Hey, we all get cheated and make mistakes sometimes. Back when the game came out I didn't know that you couldn't re-customize weapons that someone else already customized... fortunantly I only lost about 150g.

How about this: no cost of joining, but if they want to leave a guild they have to paid 1k to arena.net.
Of course the guild leader can kick him, in that way such member don't need to pay anything.
no cost of joining, just cost of leaving.
100gp invite still applies to cut spams.

Fees
it should be 25 to invite some 1 and they have to pay 75 to join.
- 25 for the message service, stationary supplies etc
- the initiate pays 75 for the cape, supplies, guild maintenance,
floors must be swept, retainers paid.
- free ale for new members?
Leaving
should be a bounty list @ the hall with the leavers name on it.
leaving fee: 15

if it's mainly about raping the guild here..
how bout link it to battles lost.
new member gets in..
participates in 10 guild battles which were all lost, 10x500 gold to leave 5000 to leave.
what if he's just bad and you want to kick him ? free ? ^_^ =P
this is more meant as a joke than serious..

Great solution against leavers: don't invite everyone.
If you spam invites, you will get mostly people you don't really want in your guild.
I don't want to pay for leaving a guild because I'm fed up with the leader or the members or the guild didn't hold what they promised. Why should I pay for that?
You need to start thinking of the other direction. You only see it as a guild leader - but try to see the reasons why someone leaves a guild.

umm, why oh why did they make the new guest in guild function...
ok it wouldn't stop people doing what you've already said if they eventually joined, but at least it cuts it down if you use it properly right?

But, really, make the cost to leave nominal...at least enough to pay back the guild for inviting you--100gp. That sounds fair to me.

I think the guest function could be great feature if it didn't cost the same amount to invite a guest as it does for a member. Maybe there could be a new member trial period. For example: you still would pay the 100g invite, but if they leave say within 24-48 hours you get your 100g back.
Gerbill: I think the guild battle lost idea is...more geared towards PvP'ers. Our guild for example is kind of into PvP but more geared into PvE.
Schorny: Thinking in the other direction...In my experience of leading a guild, some have joined and left for the following reasons: Didn't have a hall at the time, guild rank wasn't good enough for them, didn't like the redesigned capes, went onto a diffrent game, left to join a friends guild, complained that there wasn't enough members on when they were on. Others simply left without saying a word, so I don't know why they left.

current system is great - I like that it costs the guild, an organised body that should easily be able to bear the cost. If 100 gold an invite is taxing you then farm more or stop inviting everyone on the planet.

100 gs is nothing for leaving a guild if they aren't happy with it or just want their services such as helping out with armor or ascention maybe infused.
